Mawiw council Inc. is a First Nation Tribal Organization whose primary purpose is to improve the overall well being of NB's three largest rural First Nation commiunities (Elsipogtog, Negotkuk, Esgenoopetitj) bsed on unceded Wabanaki territory. MAWIW's initiatives and projects range from but not limited to: Health, community Capacity Building, Employment and Training, Economic Development and Service Delivery.

Job Description
Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care Framework (IELCC) is a framework that was co-developed with Indigenous partners as well as by the Government of Canada. Indigenous IELCC supports children aged 0 to 6 in their development, learning and cultural identity. It also wholistically supports parents and families to participate in their cultures and languages.
The goal of IELCC is to provide Indigenous children and families with greater access to ELCC programs and services that are culturally appropriate, high-quality, fully inclusive, flexible, and affordable. Indigenous IELCC programs and activities aim to support culturally based language, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical development in the home, in a preschool or nursery school, or in a home child care or daycare setting.
Position Overview
The Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care (IELCC) Governance Coordinator will manage and direct all activities pertaining to the development of the governance model/structure. They will serve as the main point of contact, oversee the implementation of the workplan, and monitor all activities. The process of developing the IELCC governance structure will build off the two eyed seeing approach and holistic lifelong learning framework. Once the model/structure is developed, it will be piloted in Mawiw communities, revised based on results of the pilot, and finalized.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage and direct all activities pertaining to the development of the governance framework process
· Serve as the main point of contact for the project
· Develop annual workplans
· Oversee the implementation of workplans
· Coordinate and monitor all project activities
· Build partnerships
· Facilitate and chair an IELCC governance working group
· Undertake a communications effort to inform the leadership, communities (especially families), and IELCC learning sites and staff about the initiative to ensure open communications and transparency
· Engage the community to understand their needs and priorities vis a vis early learning
· Create a communications and engagement plan to guide and effectively engage members
· Lead community engagement efforts
· Build on the results of the promising practices research and exploration and ongoing feedback from community engagement to develop a governance structure and model for IELCC, including developing options for governance, developing a model, testing the model, promoting the model, and putting the model into place
· Will also involve developing supporting tools for governance, such as decision-making bodies and processes, policies and procedures, reporting and accountability mechanisms, and forms and administrative mechanisms that support governance
· Report and maintain ongoing communication with the IELCC Coordinator
· Perform other related duties, as required
Qualifications
· Minimum 3 years of experience in project coordination and management
· Experience in organizational governance, particularly Indigenous governance
· Experience in early learning and childcare, particularly with Indigenous contexts
· Experience conducting research
· Excellent critical thinking and analysis skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Excellent communication skills, including writing skills
· Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
· Experience in community engagement and partnerships working with First Nations and Indigenous organizations and people at a community level
· Knowledge of Mi'gmaq, Wolastoqey, or French are considered an asset
· Must have a driver's license and access to a vehicle
· Criminal background check required
· Be willing to participate in governance training
