Clinical Dietitian II
Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre - Port aux Basques, NL

Western Health is currently seeking a clinical Dietitian II to provide service through the Port aux Basques region. The primary purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive nutritional assessment, intervention and counselling services to referred hospital inpatient, outpatients and long term care residents, both independently and as part of the health care team. The incumbent provides nutrition expertise in an environment of highly skilled professionals and, as the only Dietitian on site, is responsible to see al referrals. As a sole charge position, the work of the clinical dietitian is performed using considerable independent judgement.

Duties:
o Electronic documentation in patient/resident electronic medical record
o Dysphagia management: primary swallowing assessments, writing diet orders and monitoring for diet texture appropriateness for patients/residents
o Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings and patient rounds
o Performing administrative duties necessary for outpatient services including: prioritizing referrals and booking appointments
o Providing clinical advice and regularly communicating with the Food Service department
o Participating in various hospital, regional, and professional committees
o Recording daily/monthly workload statistics

The incumbent is required to possess nutrition expertise in a wide range of complex medical and psychological conditions such as gastrointestinal disorders, oncology and palliative care, dysphagia, renal, cardiac, obesity, allergies, eating disorders, diabetes, paediatrics, geriatrics and nutrition support.

Qualifications: Graduation from an approved university with a Bachelor of Science Degree and major course work in Foods and Nutrition, Dietetics or Home Economics and completion of an approved one-year internship program or equivalent is required. Must be a member of the College of Dietitians of Newfoundland and Labrador.

*A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.

Hours of Work: 75 Hours per pay period
0800-1600, 0830-1630 Hours
Salary Scale: $42.91 to $53.10 per Hour which includes any negotiated wage adjustment and/or supplement as applicable
