The Role

The Retail District Manager plays a pivotal role at ACL, directly reporting to the CEO and driving the growth and profitability of our retail business, which currently spans eight stores across NL. This position is not just about managing stores-it's about being the heartbeat of our retail operations and championing the ACL brands throughout the province.

As a key leader within the organization, the Retail District Manager collaborates closely with other senior leaders to ensure our organizational strategy is effectively executed. This role demands a hands-on approach, overseeing and mentoring store managers and their teams to ensure our values of quality, community, and fun are alive in every customer interaction.

Responsibilities

Financial performance of the retail

  • This role has full profit and loss responsibility for the retail business - which is a separate legal entity wholly owned by Atlantic Cultivation
  • Ultimately accountable for ensuring profitability of the retail organization

Senior Team member / Board reporting

  • Elevate retail issues to the leadership team and board for discussion and resolution
  • Send monthly and weekly retail performance report to the executive team and board
  • Create and present monthly retail analysis for the board
  • Creation of the demand assumptions for our financial model
  • Coordinate with finance to ensure alignment of demand assumptions with the rest of the model

Operational Responsibilities

  • Day to day coordination with operations team on inventory, store deliveries, supply / demand balancing
  • Organise and deliver product drops to stores
  • Coordinate product launches
  • Coordinate store maintenance / repair needs with ACL maintenance team
  • Work with the OH&S committee to ensure a safe and secure work environment

Retail Team leadership

  • Work in conjunction with HR to recruit and maintain an effective team of retail store managers
  • Providing leadership and direction to enable the store managers and district team to succeed
  • Conducting performance meetings with retail managers
  • Assisting store managers (and working in coordination with HR) in recruitment, training, and performance management of their teams including conducting interviews, performance improvement meetings and termination meetings
  • Cascading information and performance indicators to retail teams to allow them to optimise store operations
  • Facilitate / provide training to retail teams on essential skills, new policies etc.
  • Organise quarterly town hall meetings to share corporate information with the retail teams
  • Assist Store Managers with resolving customer concerns
  • Direct oversight of the District support team of three people (Demand Planner, System Support, Inventory planner)
  • Develop and maintain relationships with LPs to grow the merchandising and data sales channel
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers (LPs, accessories, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the systems and technical infrastructure of store operations (Dutchie, Merco, Payfacto, security systems, etc.)
  • Point of escalation for security and emergency incidents
  • Plan and execute new store developments

ACL Brand Development / Sales

  • Plan and purchase appropriate apparel to support ACL brands
  • Store and distribute ACL brand apparel to stores other LCRS and influencers
  • Develop relationships with cannabis influencers to encourage them to consume and promote ACL brands

Qualifications

A diverse combination of education/experience will be considered for this role; however, the ideal candidate would have:

  • Undergraduate degree in business / finance / marketing
  • At least two years retail leadership experience - cannabis specific retail leadership would be an asset
  • A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle is required for this role as frequent travel is required
  • Able to pass a Criminal Record Check (done by the Company upon an offer of employment)
