CRSS and ADRSS are non-profit residential agencies supporting individuals with disabilities in Truro and Amherst. We are committed to social inclusion for the individuals we support and value the contributions of our employees. Currently we are recruiting for the position of:

Youth Day Program Coordinator

AMHERST and TRURO

Start Date: October 2024

Status: Permanent

Eligibility: Open to internal and external applicants

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to serve as a Youth Day Program Coordinator for individuals with intellectual disabilities aged 16-24 in Colchester and Cumberland Counties. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting young people with disabilities, creating inclusive environments, and fostering opportunities for personal growth and social engagement. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people that we support and contribute to building a more inclusive community.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, and facilitate day-to-day operations of the youth day program for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Develop and implement a diverse range of activities, workshops, and outings tailored to the unique needs and interests of the people that we support.

Collaborate with families, caregivers, and support workers to ensure individualized support plans are developed and implemented effectively.

Coordinate with community organizations, schools, and service providers. Maintain accurate records of participant progress, attendance, and program outcomes.

Conduct regular evaluations and assessments to measure program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines related to the provision of services for individuals with disabilities.

Foster a supportive and inclusive environment where all participants feel valued, respected, and empowered.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in a Human Service Field/ Diploma in the field of Human Services. Minimum of three years proven experience supporting persons with intellectual disabilities or recreation planning.

Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, preferably in a youth program or similar setting.

Proficient understanding of intellectual disabilities from a holistic perspective and commitment to advancing social inclusion.

Understanding of the principles of inclusion equity, diversity and accessibility.

Commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of individuals with disabilities

Ability to adapt activities and programming to meet the diverse needs and abilities of participants.

Compassion, patience, and empathy for individuals with disabilities and their families.

Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and community partners.

Effective communication in a professional manner at all levels within the organization and an ability to liaise with key partners including; families, professionals, funder.

The ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

The ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be willing to work flexible hours.

Willingness to use personal vehicle in performance of duties.
