Meridia has partnered with IMP Aerostructures to recruit a talented individual to join their team as a Director of Operations for their facility located in Amherst, Nova Scotia.
Role Description
As a key member of the executive team, the Director of Operations will be responsible for driving and executing IMP Aerostructures' strategic plan and monitoring key metrics to ensure an operational strategy that delivers against business objectives. This role involves close collaboration with the executive team, people leaders, and various operational groups to meet program requirements and production schedules. The Director will lead the Production, Engineering, and Purchasing departments, focusing on enhancing team capabilities and fostering a positive organizational culture. They will also analyze industry trends and best practices to improve effectiveness and support the company's growth initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and implement the organization's operational strategy in alignment with overall organizational goals.
- Maintain close relationships with executive team members, people leaders, and operational groups across Aerostructures and IMP to ensure alignment with program requirements.
- Directly manage the Production, Engineering, and Purchasing departments, focusing on team development and effective leadership.
- Uphold and advance the company's reputation for quality and customer service through successful strategy execution and adherence to production schedules.
- Analyze industry trends, operational best practices, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Use key metrics to ensure Balanced Scorecard results are achieved, manage risks, and deliver sustainable outcomes for new and existing customers.
- Demonstrate strategic problem-solving skills, anticipate and communicate challenges, and navigate complex issues effectively within the work environment.
Qualifications
As the ideal candidate for the Director of Operations role, you bring significant senior management experience in operations, preferably within a manufacturing environment, and proven success in managing operations in a unionized setting. You must demonstrate a strong ability to lead and develop multi-functional teams, effectively utilize IT systems to drive operational efficiency, and maintain a steadfast commitment to quality, safety, and customer service. Additionally, you have demonstrated experience in strategic decision-making, inspiring and motivating teams, and communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Your Qualifications include:
- 10+ years' operational experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or similar environment would be considered a strong asset.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a multi-functional team in a unionized environment is an asset.
- Effective problem-solving, strategic analysis, planning, and implementation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage IT systems to improve efficiency and outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence at the executive level to achieve desired outcomes.
- Unwavering commitment to Quality, Safety and Customer Service objectives.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
