You will join a dynamic and collegial team of legal professionals in the Legal Department and be involved in a wide range of activities working to advance strategic priorities while ensuring proper risk management. The Wealth and Asset Management Legal Team provides strategic and practical legal advice to advance the objectives and strategies, as well as the TD risk management requirements of the TD Wealth businesses, which includes TD Asset Management Inc. (TDAM). This position will be primarily dedicated to supporting the TDAM business.
Job Accountabilities:
You will be involved in a wide range of asset management legal matters, with a focus on supporting TDAMs institutional business. This includes:
(i) advising on the launch and distribution of private pooled and alternative funds;
(ii) providing legal support to TDAM's real estate, infrastructure and private credit investment teams, (iii) drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements and documentation,
(iv) providing legal and regulatory advice in relation to investment funds, portfolio management, and fund management services,
(v) working on strategic initiatives, including global distribution projects
(vi) working with internal stakeholders and managing external counsel to achieve business objectives; and
(vii) providing advice on corporate governance and other regulatory matters.
Job Requirements:
Ideally 7+ years (minimum 4) of experience in a top law firm and/or in-house position practicing securities law, with experience advising on fund offerings and investment management activities.
Experience providing legal support to asset management firms, pension funds or other buy side participants would be an asset.
You are a critical thinker with excellent judgment who also has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple partners and stakeholders.
You have superior communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with senior members of TD Bank's management team.
You can manage multiple deadlines and priorities without sacrificing focus and attention to detail and work independently to provide legal support on major projects in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
You can also work collaboratively in a large legal team setting with other lawyers and TD Legal Department leaders.
