In Mississauga, Vale's Base Metals Technology Development team work to improve Vale's competitive edge and support its growth strategies by coming up with safer and more environmentally responsible technology. The Opportunity We are currently seeking an Analytical Assistant Student to join our Analytical Services group in Mississauga, ON. This is a 12-month fixed term position, starting from January 2025 till December 2025.The analytical laboratory is responsible for providing support to a number of projects gear towards improving operational excellence and sustainability within Vale Base Metals operations.The student's responsibility will be to assist in providing this support by preparing samples for analysis. Primary duties will include –
- weighing and fusing solid samples,
- use of acid dissolution techniques,
- dilution of aqueous samples prior to analysis,
- preparation of calibration standards and
- ongoing maintenance of ISO documentation.
- Enrolled in a co-op program for an undergraduate degree from an university in Chemistry/Biochemistry or
- Enrolled in a three-year technical diploma from a college in Chemical Engineering Technology
- There is no requirement to have completed prior work terms.
- Would be an asset, but not required.
