The Dean of Programs and Curriculum is a pivotal academic leadership role dedicated to the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the institution's educational programs and curricular offerings. This role is vital to ensuring that academic offerings are cohesive, comprehensive, and aligned with institutional goals. This position demands a visionary leader with a profound understanding of academic excellence, curriculum development, and pedagogical innovation.
Academic Leadership and Coordination:
- Lead the design, evaluation, and enhancement of academic programs to ensure rigorous standards and alignment with institutional goals.
- Foster collaboration and synergies between different programs to enhance the overall academic experience.
- Oversee the review and assessment of curricula to ensure they meet high standards of quality and relevance.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate industry trends and best practices into the curriculum.
- Participates in strategic planning processes and contributes to the development of academic policies and procedures.
- Ensure that academic initiatives are aligned with UFred's mission, vision, and strategic goals.
Faculty Support and Development:
- Provides leadership and support to faculty in curriculum development and instructional innovation.
- Offers professional development opportunities related to teaching, assessment, and academic leadership.
- Promotes an inclusive and collaborative academic environment.
Other Responsibilities:
- Monitors trends in higher education and recommends strategies to enhance UFred's academic offerings.
- Builds and maintains relationships with industry partners, accrediting bodies, and other external stakeholders.
- Represents UFred at academic conferences, meetings, and other relevant events.
- Promotes UFred's academic programs to prospective students and partners.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years experience in an administrative leadership position/role in a higher education setting.
- PhD or other terminal degree with a track record in research or teaching at the post-secondary level.
- Experience with program development and instructional design.
- Outstanding skills in writing, oral communication, and developing interpersonal relationships.
- Experience in imagining, developing, implementing, and overseeing academic programs' curricular processes and collaboratively leading and supporting faculty.
- Ability to effectively engage with a wide range of people. These skills must enable the person to maintain professionalism and sound judgment during difficult conversations, under stress, and in managing challenging situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with online and hybrid learning modalities.
- Proven track record of fostering innovation in curriculum and program development.
- Familiarity with data-driven decision-making and educational technology.

Hours of Work
This is a fulltime permanent position (35 hours) under regular business hours. The position is located in Fredericton, NB with the possibility to work remotely from anywhere in New Brunswick, and attend in-office meetings, as required. The ideal candidate should reside in New Brunswick or is willing to relocate.
