The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a 2nd Class Operating Engineer to join our Maintenance Department in Sudbury, Ontario.

This is a permanent position.

As a 2nd Class Operating Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation of boilers, cooling towers, chillers, reciprocating compressors, glycol cooling systems and associated auxiliary equipment. Your experience and skills will contribute to scheduled or emergency repairs, and preventative maintenance work to be done.

Additionally, in this position, you will:

  • Complete written pre-operation checks on all equipment and provide an end of shift report of work completed.
  • Participate fully in the Vale Production System (VPS).
  • Teamwork will be a key requirement of the role along with the ability to work on one's own initiatives when required.
  • Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.

About You

Trade Certification:

  • The successful candidate will have 2nd Class Operating Engineer Certification. Consideration for 3rd Class Certification with 2nd Class exams completed.

Experience:

  • Industrial work experience with demonstrated safe work record.

Skills:

  • Strong diagnostic skills and judgment.
  • Able to take action and/or make decisions affecting security/well-being of others, I.e., alerting others to unsafe conditions.
  • Must be able to pass the internal operator training requirements.
