This is a permanent position.As a Chief Engineer – Ventilation Planning & Integration, you will lead a team of ventilation specialist that are the resource to monitor and manage the health and efficiency of the ventilation systems, communicate and obtain alignment on required changes, execute ventilation projects and troubleshoot/ investigate as requiredAdditionally, in this position you will:The role will support integration of approved technologies, required monitoring and data collection, ensure that health and safety standards and legislated requirements are effectively satisfied, communicate to the appropriate levels within the organization on status and issues and provide a link between mine operations and the ventilation requirements that are within the mine design plan.
- Author business cases for monitoring and optimizing the ventilation systems and support business cases that incorporate technology into current system including the impact on production/opex/capex.
- Integrate the 0-24 month Ventilation Plan into the 0-3 month mine execution plan.
- Integrate with CE – Design, Ventilation Systems to support a robust LOM ventilation strategy.
- Liaison with Mine Operations for alignment on the ventilation component of the mine plan.
- Manage the mine's ventilation systems through leading a team of ventilation professionals located at the mine site.
- Provide training and mentoring to foster skills and competencies of the ventilation team.
- Audits and job observations to ensure quality of data collection
- Communication of ventilation issues to varying audiences, including hourly to senior leadership
- Undergraduate degree required, Mine Engineering preferred
- P.Eng required
- 8-10 years of experience in Underground mine design, mine engineering, ventilation, scheduling, and high level of understanding of underground mining activities
- General knowledge of engineering planning software.
- Knowledge of ventilation modeling software (VNET, CLIMSIM, MineFire,) is recommended.
- Strong communication skills and development of concise documents and presentation materials.
- Knowledge of cash flow modeling techniques and economics is an asset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with spreadsheet manipulation in Excel.
