Natoaganeg First Nation is seeking a professional with a strong background in project management to join the Capital and Housing team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support capital projects while working as part of a team to improve infrastructure for the community. Natoaganeg has a significant multi-year capital program that requires a project management professional to support through the development, design and implementation stages.

Primary Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Director of Capital and Housing, the project manager provides project delivery services to Natoaganeg by identifying and developing projects scope, provision of design services, estimating project budgets and supervising consultant and contracted construction services. Assets will include public buildings, housing inventory, roads, water and sewer infrastructure.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring a project's success by delivering it within the agreed scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Consult with stakeholders to review project scope and requirements
  • Prepare project funding applications for submission to various provincial or federal funding agencies
  • Assist with prioritizing housing and infrastructure projects for effective implementation
  • Prepare request for proposals for consultant and contractor services
  • Evaluate bids and coordinate contract awards
  • Manage housing and public works and facility infrastructure projects, new construction, and improvement projects from the planning phase to construction completion
  • Identify project risks, mitigation measures and contingency plans
  • Authorize and coordinate progress payments, change orders, requests for information and related contract administration measures
  • Provide sketches, drawings, estimates, scopes of work and related technical information in support of small facility renovation projects for contract or departmental staff implementation
  • Collaboration and support to Housing, Public Works and Facilities staff during the implementation of their annual programs

Qualification Requirements:

Graduation from university or college with a degree or diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Management or equivalent. Candidate must have 5+ years of relevant Project Management experience. A certificate in Project Management will be considered an asset. Candidate must be familiar with First Nations housing and infrastructure.

Competencies:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project and Teams)
  • CAD proficiency will be considered an asset
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical, problem-solving and judgement skills
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of industry standards, and knowledge of provincial and federal environmental and construction regulations
  • Demonstrated understanding of First Nations, traditions and socio-economic conditions is essential
  • Spoken and written English

Special Requirements:

Must possess a valid driver's license, have access to reliable transportation, and be willing to travel including occasional overnight and longer duration trips. A successful criminal records check must be provided upon hire.

Program Location: Various locations throughout the community
Hours of Work: 75 hours biweekly, weekdays 9am-4pm with occasional evenings and weekends
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience
Status: Full-time term
Term: One year (with possibility of extension)
