Muriel McQueen Fergusson Centre

The Muriel McQueen Fergusson Centre for Family Violence Research (MMFC) fosters collaborative, action-oriented research on family violence and violence against women and children. We offer formal and informal education opportunities based on the most up-to-date research on family violence. For those interested in adding a specialization to their undergraduate degree, there is the Family Violence Issues (FVI) Certificate program. Our professional development training programs are tailored to the needs of professionals working with survivors and perpetrators of family violence. We translate research findings for a range of stakeholders and the public.

Full-time | Continuing | Fredericton | On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $84,288 - $114,876 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the director of MMFC, The Associate Director works collaboratively with the Director, Administrative Coordinator, Communications Officer and students to support the functions of the MMFC.

  • Foster the community partnerships that inform research, education and knowledge transfer.
  • Be part of research teams and projects, participation on community and government committees, and attendance at family violence related events, workshops, conferences and training opportunities.
  • Oversee MMFC operations including budgeting, management of accounts, disbursement of funds, drafting funding applications, and student supervision.
  • Organize and coordinate the delivery of professional development training programs, in-person and via webinar.
  • Organize and participate in knowledge transfer activities to government, community and other stakeholders.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Master's degree in Sociology/Anthropology or a social service-related discipline (social work, education, family studies, criminology, psychology, etc.) or a Bachelor's degree in one of these disciplines with at least five years of related work experience.
  • Five years of demonstrated ability to network and collaborate on projects with community partners is required.

Additional Strengths

  • Familiarity with university research processes and family violence stakeholders or community-based service providers is important.
  • Strong computer skills, experience using MS Office 365, online meeting software (Zoom, Teams), and enterprise computing system such as Colleague.
  • Basic accounting and financial management skills.
  • Ability to work in English and French, (written and orally in one and orally in the other).
