Director of Primary Health Care
Community Health Nursing & Infection Prevention & Control
Temporary Full-Time
Central Zone, NLHS, Location to be Determined

Definition of work:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Primary Health Care and Community Services, the Director of Primary Health Care, Community Health Nursing & Infection Prevention & Control will endorse a vision of primary health care that is delivered throughout community health offices and clinics and programs in the Central Zone. The Director ensures the utilization of a population health approach to service planning and delivery, and supports the implementation of the Primary Health Care model within the region that includes emerging roles of various healthcare professionals, the evolution of the electronic health record, development of practice standards and supports strong collaboration and connections with clients, families and community leaders. The successful applicant will be responsible for policy and program development for the Community Health Nursing program, Family Care Teams and Infection Prevention & Control.

This position will work in collaborative partnership with other regional program directors and physicians in a variety of specialties and family practice, outside agencies, and the senior executive team to plan, implement, and evaluate initiatives that are consistent with the achievement of the strategic directions of Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services and other related provincial strategic plans. This will require leading change, establishing collaborative relationships and effectively communicating with all stakeholders on a regional, provincial and national level. In addition, the successful candidate will work in collaboration with physician colleagues and other program managers and directors to ensure continuity and coordination across program areas and operations of the organization.

Understanding and implementing the principles and strategies of population health, primary health care, patient flow and community development to provide care at the right time, in the right setting, in the right place, by the right provider, will be instrumental in this role. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Required qualifications:
" Graduate degree in a health related or administrative discipline.
" Current professional registration and/or licensure within discipline; if applicable.
" Five years' progressive management experience.
" Knowledge of best practices, national and provincial standards and legislation and regulations relevant to program areas.
" Consistent demonstration of NLHS corporate values; Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence.
" Demonstrated commitment to person and family centered care.
" Dynamic leadership style focused on leading self, engaging others, achieving results, developing coalitions and systems transformation.
" Ability to drive consensus, resolve conflicts, and facilitate solutions.
" Proven ability to coach and develop others; build trust; and inspire people to pursue quality, safety and innovation in all aspects of their work.
" Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and a safe work environment.
" Demonstrate strong critical thinking, strategic leadership, and a proven ability to build external relationships.
" Demonstrates professionalism and personal integrity.
" Class 05 driver's license and the ability to travel.
" A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
" A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.

Preferred qualifications:
" Lean apprentice training.
" Respectful workplace training.
" LEADS training

Hours of work: 70 hours bi-weekly (shift work may be required)
Salary: HL-29 ($94,166-$122,416)
