Job Overview: SHIFT Energy is seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Chilled Water Plant Subject Matter Expert to act as a consultant on retainer. This is a contract role, ideal for retired professionals or those seeking to work as independent consultants. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the operations, design, service, and commissioning of chilled water plants, with a deep technical understanding of water-cooled chillers and the mechanical properties, thermodynamics, and operations of chilled water plants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consulting and Advisory: Provide expert consulting services on all aspects of chilled water plant systems, including operations, design, service, and commissioning.
  • Technical Expertise: Leverage deep technical knowledge of water-cooled chillers and the mechanical properties, thermodynamics, and operations of chilled water plants to offer practical solutions and improvements.
  • System Design and Optimization: Evaluate existing chilled water plant systems and recommend enhancements to improve performance, reliability, and energy efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting of chilled water plant issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Project Support: Assist with project planning, execution, and oversight, ensuring projects meet specifications and timelines.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and support to client personnel to ensure proper operation and maintenance of chilled water plant systems.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all chilled water plant systems adhere to industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed technical reports, proposals, and documentation for clients and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Extensive experience in the operations, design, service, and commissioning of chilled water plant systems.
  • Technical Skills: Deep technical understanding of water-cooled chillers, mechanical properties, thermodynamics, and operations of chilled water plants.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Project Management: Experience in supporting project planning and execution.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently and as an independent consultant.
