FATHERHOOD MATTERS PROGRAM

Family Service of Nova Scotia is a non-profit Organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. For over 53 years, we have provided therapeutic services and programs throughout Nova Scotia.

Location: Bridgewater, Nova Scotia

Position: Full time beginning in August 2024

Qualifications: Our organization is seeking individuals with an undergraduate degree in human kinetics, psychology, or sociology who has experience working with youth and adults.

Position Requirements: Reporting to the Strengthening Fathers and Fatherhood Matters Program Coordinator, this worker will provide direct support to Dads though program facilitation. The Fatherhood Matters program focus is to support fathers in their fathering role by enhancing promotive and protective factors and the reducing and/or mitigating risk factors that impact fathers, their children, and families. The program will support fathers to build skills and knowledge for positive family life; tools to support parenting & co-parenting; tools and skills that promote positive child development, well-being, and safety. Additionally, this position will aim to help fathers connect to resources that meet their needs across the social determinants of health and build positive social connections supports within their community.

Persons considered for this position must have: a clear police background check, a clear child abuse registry check, and a valid driver's license.
