In this role, you will :
Responsibility 1. Drives clients to designated destinations, ensuring their safe and punctual arrival.
- Utilizing the most expedient route, transports cognitively impaired, disabled and/or physically limited clients from pick-up point to various appointments and return.
- Assists clients, whenever needed, to enter and exit the vehicles.
- Reports to supervisor, any client feedback and/or problems related to the scheduled rides.
- Successfully acquires and maintains an "G" licence, a First Aid Certificate, informing supervisor of progress and need for recertification as required.
Responsibility 2. Ensures the vehicle(s) is maintained and in good working condition.
- Ensures that the exterior and interior of vehicles clean and presentable to clients and the public
- Conducts daily safety checks on vehicle(s), topping up vehicle fluids (e.g. gas and windshield wiper fluids) in a timely manner.
- Monitors and maintains vehicle supplies such as First Aid kit, gloves, etc.
- Operates the vehicle safely and reports any vehicle maintenance concerns/problems needs to coordinator/supervisor.
Responsibility 3. Minimizes risk exposure to clients, drivers and vehicles.
- Reports to supervisor, any safety concerns for a client due to his/her condition or any occupational health and safety concerns resulting from driving a particular client.
- Follows all procedures in reporting and documenting any incidents, accidents and/or injuries.
Responsibility 4. Facilitates fee collection and promotes Red Cross programs and services.
- When instructed, collects fees from clients and submits appropriate documentation to office staff member.
- Maintains supply of promotional pamphlets and distributes them as appropriate.
What we are looking for :
- The minimum qualification for this position is a high school diploma with a minimum of two years' driving experience.
- A class G Ontario Driver's License with no more than three demerit points is required.
- Previous experience working with Elders would be an advantage.
- Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs (e.g. wheelchair) is required.
