Port Hawkesbury Paper is currently seeking an individual to join our Quality and Environment Team. The Quality & Environment Technician position reports to the Lab Supervisor and is responsible for quality and environmental testing within a paper manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities:

· Sample collection (wood chips, paper sheets, water, etc.)

· Laboratory testing (effluent, pulp, paper and process samples)

· Recording of test results

Skills/Competency Requirements:

· Ability to work safely as part of a team

· Ability to work independently and accurately in a fast-paced work setting

· Attention to detail

· Strong problem solving and communication abilities

· Excellent organizational and time management skills

· Proficient computer skills

· Willing to work overtime, after-hours call-ins, and shift work as needed

Experience/Education Requirements:

· Bachelor of Science Degree (or Diploma) with a concentration in Chemistry

· A minimum of 2 years' recent experience working in a laboratory setting

· Experience with laboratory testing within the paper manufacturing process is considered an asset

· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Pi Process Book and other Plant computer applications

Compensation:
