Our Team:

The Engineering, Maintenance & Reliability team is accountable for the overall asset reliability and asset life cycle performance for Manitoba Operations. This role is key in achieving this business objective.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Asset Integrity Engineer to join our Engineering, Maintenance and Reliability Team based in Thompson, Manitoba.

The Senior Asset Integrity Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the asset integrity inspection program. This key role is working in collaboration with the operational and maintenance team to ensure Safety, asset integrity, maximizing uptime & minimizing cost, while ensuring full compliance with federal, provincial laws, acts, and regulations to ensure public safety, environmental and Vale's social license to operate.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Identify required updates to the asset data standard to optimize asset performance through a failure reporting and corrective action system (FRACAS) according to industry practice.
  • Leads development and implementation of performance management activities to ensure ongoing improvement to processes and procedures.
  • Develops strategies and processes to monitor and manage the integrity, safety and reliability of assets.
  • Reviews and incorporates best practice protocols through performance reporting.
  • Prepares and issue the routine asset integrity risk report.
  • Reporting of service levels for the asset management plan
  • Defining the asset lifecycle strategies / activities in the asset management plan
  • Manages updates to the asset risk management framework and the asset risk assessment process.
  • Manage the critical asset health dashboards and reports.
  • Identifies training needs for competency assessments.
  • Identifies and pursues opportunities to continuously improve asset maintenance strategy.
  • Identify and deploy opportunities to optimize preventative maintenance plans.
  • Develop tools/plans for data maintenance to support data integrity and performance.
  • Ensures compliance with all provincial regulatory requirements for static equipment.
  • Optimize the static equipment annual outage scope based on the risk.

About You

Education:

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Eligible for registration as a licensed professional engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a heavy industry such as Mining, Pulp & Paper, or Oil & Gas.

Skills:

  • Ability to take ownership of the work and possess strong work and business management skills (resource, planning & work prioritization management, results focused)
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in SAP.
  • Ability to influence and promote the high reliability culture within the organization.
