Job Summary
The Clinical Dietitian II is responsible for the provision of clinical nutrition services to oncology outpatients of the Provincial Cancer Centre located in the Western Memorial Hospital. This includes providing expertise in the assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring of patients' nutritional care, including those receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments for their cancer diagnosis and to patients of the Provincial Cancer Care program. Patients diagnosed with Cancer have diverse nutrition needs which may include poor nutritional intake, fat/muscle loss, malnutrition and feeding difficulties and experience comorbidities including hypertension, heart disease and diabetes. Nutrition care will include (but is not limited to) customizing approaches to food/nutrient provision (including enteral nutrition), therapeutic diet modifications and nutrition education/counselling to improve nutritional intake, quality of life and care goals. The dietitians' practice will reflect the nutritional needs of the patients.

This position participates as an active member of the interdisciplinary team in the delivery of patient focused care. Proficiency in the use of CBORD as a tool to communicate with Food Services personnel and to assist in clinical nutrition decision making is required. Engagement in practice, program and quality improvement initiatives is expected. The incumbent is required to preceptor dietetic interns.

This position reports to the Division Manager of the Cancer Care Program and maintains accountability to the Regional Professional Practice Consultant for Dietitians for integrity and professional practice.

Job Demands

Regularly requires a high level of attentiveness for exact results and precision for calculations required for nutrition care assessment, intervention and monitoring.
Use of virtual technology for individual and group sessions.
Regularly includes the use of information systems such as CBORD, Excel, Healthe NL, ischeduler, etc.

Job Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or equivalent from an accredited university program and successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship program is required.
Current Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Dietitians is required.
Previous Clinical Dietitian experience providing nutrition care in an acute care patients and providing nutrition counselling for behavior change is considered an asset.
Demonstrated active pursuit of personal leadership development opportunities is considered an asset.
Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills.
Demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team is considered an asset.
Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, coaching, mentorship and training to dietitians, clinicians and students/interns.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships as a member of an interprofessional team.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
