Here's where you'll be focusing:

Reporting directly to the Transportation Manager, the Transportation Team Lead is responsible for all aspects of the trucking operations; drivers and equipment, maintaining oversight of routing, scheduling and dispatch to customers. Adherence to applicable provincial and federal regulatory standards is strictly enforced. Actively contributes to a positive and productive working environment.

Key Business Functions, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities

  • Determines the Manpower requirements and staff his/her shift appropriately reacting to any situation affecting his/her planning (Holidays, BOGOs, unplanned events, etc.)
  • Monitors and reports the daily productivity information and on time service.
  • Explains any variances on productivity
  • Schedules equipment maintenance within Provincial Legislated requirements and ensure the safe operation of all Transport vehicles
  • Manages absenteeism and employees tardiness
  • Recruits, trains, develops, motivates and coaches truck drivers, and provides regular feedback, including administering corrective actions as required
  • Communicates any relevant information to the employees
  • Demonstrates outstanding leadership, with a clear vision and consistent sense of direction and serves as a role model for employees
  • Ensures that the Health and safety rules are being followed
  • Ensures that system and tools are being used as instructed
  • Reviews all Delivery Sheets and Trip Books
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment as per company requirements
  • Other duties as required

Technical Skills Required:

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Results oriented leader, with solid judgment and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated successful ability working with cross-functional teams
  • Planning and organizing skills
  • Strong leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent judgment and decision making skills

Educational and Working Experience Required

  • Minimum of High School diploma and 2 years of experience in a warehouse or transportation company, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated successful experience leading warehouse or transportation employees

Working Conditions

  • Retail support centre
  • Physical work including frequent bending, lifting, and reaching
  • Occasionally lift over 88 lbs
  • Two person lift required for weights exceeding 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Possible exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Alertness to other people and vehicles
  • Various shifts including evenings and weekends
