Salary Band : $ 64,000 - $ 69,000 / year

In this role, you will :

Responsibility 1: Project Planning and Personnel Management

  • Support geographic leadership by assisting in the planning and execution of community programs. This includes participating in meetings and discussions related to delivering, monitoring, and reporting on DRR-CCA programs to ensure quality assurance.
  • Provide support in the recovery-related DRR-CCA planning, implementation, evaluation, and integration by assisting with the design and implementation of community engagement initiatives and events.
  • Lead the geographic DRR-CCA team in delivering long-term programming related to building critical risk awareness and understanding, strengthening resilience capacities, fostering an enabling environment, and recognizing indigenous self-determination and governance.
  • Oversee the implementation of project deliverables, ensuring that there is human and material capacity to deliver on commitments and report back.

Responsibility 2: Administration and Monitoring for Strategic Program Planning & Development

  • Work closely with the geographical leadership and national DRR-CCA teams to ensure that all service delivery activities meet the quality standards and operational requirements.
  • Develop resource plans and manage budgets for DRR-CCA projects, ensuring they are aligned with the agreed deliverables, mitigate risks, and ensure effective financial management.
  • Track and share the progress of service delivery, report implementation challenges, assist with project evaluations, and other pertinent information while maintaining necessary documentation.
  • Evaluate quarterly all project plans and deliverables including the review of project budget and lead any after-action activities to inform and improve current processes and plans.

Responsibility 3: Internal & External Relations

  • Collaborate with the RRR Senior Manager of AB & NWT to establish and maintain strategic and operational relationships for project delivery.
  • Collaborate with Indigenous leadership bodies, community-based governance, and government partners to ensure appropriate program delivery.
  • Work closely with CRC program areas such as Emergency Management & RRR Programs to ensure coordination and collaboration on project deliverables.
  • Liaise with community leadership and contribute to the development of community plans to support events/activities related to resilience building and community disaster plans.

What we are looking for :

  • To be considered for this position, the candidate must have completed a university degree in Social Sciences, Emergency Management, DRR, or a related field. Additionally, the candidate should have at least 3-5 years of relevant work experience in program/project management, or a combination of education and experience that is equivalent.
  • Experience in providing technical support and monitoring an organizational resilience program and/or DRR specific approach to promote resilience at the individual and community level.
  • Knowledge of community-based disaster risk reduction is essential.
  • The ability to lead and manage projects with internal and external stakeholder groups is crucial.
  • Must be able to travel to project locations within Alberta. Travel outside of Alberta may also be required.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English are required.
  • Holding experience as a facilitator or trainer is an asset.
  • Fluency in another language is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, beliefs, and protocols is considered an asset.

Working conditions :

  • The work will be conducted in a home office environment and also require in-person community engagement.
  • The job requires work-related travel, including travel to remote communities throughout the year, within Canada.
  • You may be required to work non-traditional hours, be on-call, and respond to emergency/disaster related requests, sometimes for extended periods.
