Job Title: Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor

Location: Lake Utopia, New Brunswick

Lake Utopia Paper Mill, a prominent industry leader, specializes in manufacturing high-quality corrugating medium for global markets. Meridia is excited to be partnering with Irving Pulp & Paper Division to recruit an Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Supervisor to join the Lake Utopia Paper Mill in New Brunswick. The mill is located just outside of St. George, about 45 minutes from the city of Saint John.

Role Description

Reporting directly to the Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent, the E&I Supervisor will oversee a crew of tradespeople throughout the mill, providing leadership in the areas of safety, housekeeping, productivity, quality, and best practices. They will play a key role in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment while ensuring adherence to company policies and industry standards. The E&I Supervisor will also collaborate closely with other department leaders to optimize operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supervising a team of unionized tradespeople.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Overseeing the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical and instrumentation issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Planning, scheduling, and managing E&I projects.
  • Managing contractors and suppliers as needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Staying current with innovative technologies and best practices in the field.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of mill operational strategies.
  • Supporting the production team by ensuring electrical and instrumentation systems operate efficiently.

Your qualifications include:

  • A bachelor's degree or other completed 2-year (minimum) post-secondary program in Engineering or another technical discipline and/or a Red Seal in an Electrical/Instrumentation trade.
  • 3+ years experience in Pulp & Paper or another industrial environment is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, including PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems.
  • Knowledge of CMMS software (experience with JD Edwards E1 is an asset).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Effective communication, organization, and people skills.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
