About the Role
The Emergency Health Services Manager is responsible for providing operation oversight, fleet management and leadership to paramedicine, emergency, and ambulance services and assisting with the coordination of medivacs from coastal communities when required. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards. The Emergency Health Services Manager reports to the Regional Manager of Paramedicine.
Qualifications:
" Completion of an Advanced Care Paramedic or a Primary Care Paramedic Certificate
" Provincial registration and licensure as Primary Care Paramedic and in good standing with Provincial Medical Oversight requirements
" Management Essentials course or willingness to complete in one year
" Management experience is an asset
" Minimum of five years current experience in emergency services
" Knowledge in paramedicine & medical transport protocols and scope of practice
" Group facilitation skills, strong written and oral communication skills
" Comprehensive knowledge and ability to apply the principles of emergency services
" Experience working within an interdisciplinary team, and community networking
" Ability to work independently with little supervision
" Current BCLS certification is required
" Computer skills, word processing skills and familiarity with spreadsheets
" Satisfactory certificate of conduct
" WHIMS, ability to pass the Physical Capability Test
" A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class IV Driver's license
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
" Provides operational direction to all regional ambulance personnel and emergency services
" Responsible for staffing and leave request coordination for all sites
" Ensures operational standards; policies, procedures, regulations and legislation, quality assurance programs (QA) are being maintained by regional ambulance and emergency services
" Contributes to the strategic planning by participating in the development, implementation and evaluation of the regions ambulance services and emergency services including the development of key objectives and strategies
" Assist with providing ongoing professional development education within Labrador-Grenfell Health
" Responsible for coordinating ambulance fleet management, vehicle replacements, rentals, capital and minor equipment replacement, ensure vehicle maintenance and inspections are carried out
" Assists with policy development, to improve efficiency and effectiveness of paramedicine and emergency services for Labrador-Grenfell Health
" Demonstrates progressive clinical leadership skills, conflict management, professional development, interdisciplinary team building, and communication
" Recognizes cultural diversity
" Part of provincial structure and attends provincial meetings when required
" Travel is required
" May be required to work alone
" Other related duties as required
Salary: The salary and benefit package for this position is in accordance with the Hay Management plan, plus Labrador Allowance.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 70 hours biweekly.
