Your Contribution
As a Senior Materials Technician, you will work in collaboration with the Materials Team
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Sampling and testing of field samples of soils, granulars, asphalt and concrete;
- Compaction testing of soils, granulars and asphalt;
- Providing inspections for engineered fill, subgrades, granular, proof-rolling, asphalt, footings, excavations, roofing, fireproofing and/or reinforcement;
- Setting up, performing tests and logging results in the ?eld;
- Preparing factual reports, summaries, data sheets or graphs for interpretation of test results by the supervisor;
- Consistently executing prescribed technical procedures, safe work practices and work plans while completing ?eld, laboratory and o?ce work;
- Generating and assisting with preparation on of deliverable documentation such as technical reports, summaries, data sheets, graphs, proposals and quali?cation packages;
- Handling di?cult situations with tact and diplomacy to maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external contacts;
- Maintaining records of health and safety information, calibration certi?cates, equipment manuals and applicable standards;
- Making recommendations to control or eliminate unsafe conditions in the workplace;
- Traveling out of town for an extended period of time to remote areas to ful?ll ?eld work responsibilities.
Your Profile
- Completion of provincially recognized Technologist program OACETT C.T. designation;
- CCIL and CSA certifications;
- 7 plus years' experience in laboratory and ?eld testing;
- Ability to travel between worksites for extended periods of time as required;
- A valid "G" Driver's license is required;
- Demonstrated sensitivity and consideration for occupational health and safety.
