Under the direction of the Supervisor, Client Service, the Support Worker is responsible for ensuring that all tenants are welcomed and given an orientation to their new living environment. The Support Worker is responsible for providing daily support to the tenants by way of encouraging participation in activities, monitoring their general well-being and handling emergency situations.

Responsabilités
  • Provide new tenants with an orientation to the building's systems and facilities including the intercom, electronic security pendants, appliances, laundry, elevator services, parking, and waste removal.
  • Conduct follow-up visits to new tenants to ensure all housing and personal related issues are dealt with on a timely basis.
  • Provide daily support to tenants in areas of monitoring their general well-being and emergency situations.
  • Issue emergency call devices to all tenants and respond to such calls in a timely manner as determined in the established procedures.
  • Build and maintain a relationship with outside agencies, community groups, social programs, and related groups.
  • Foster a community environment that seeks to promote acceptance, independence, personal growth and provide support and encouragement to promote participation in the Tenant Association.
  • Other assigned duties.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 or high school equivalent, plus four years' related experience.
  • Knowledge and familiarity of support services available in the community for tenants.
  • Familiar with health and safety policies and procedures and safe work practices.
  • Possess a valid Nova Scotia driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes.

Assets

  • Emergency First Aid and WHMIS certifications

Competencies required at this level of work are Organizational and Time Management skills, Communication and Interpersonal skills, Teamwork, and Client Service.

Salary Range: $23.09 hourly
Work Week: Maximum 20 hours, On-call position with a rotational on-call schedule for weekends and holidays
Geographical Requirement: Candidates should reside within a radius of 20 minutes from Truro to facilitate timely response to emergencies
