Nursing Education Coordinator II, Permanent Full-TimeIntensive Care Unit/Emergency Department, Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls Windsor
Definition of work:
The Nursing Education Coordinator II has a duel reporting structure to the Nurse Manager of ICU and the Nurse Manager of ER. The Educator is responsible for utilizing best practice and national standards of practice to develop, coordinate, and implement orientation for new staff and ongoing education for current staff while acting as a clinical resource for other partners of the health care delivery team. The Educator is responsible for developing policies and procedures as they relate to ICU/ER and ensuring staff are familiar with same. This is a position of leadership and professional autonomy. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
* Undergraduate Degree in Nursing or willingness to complete.
* Completion of an ICU course approved by Newfoundland Health Services - Central Zone
* Current registration with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
* Current BLS and ACLS Certification.
* Current PALS, CTAS, and TNCC courses or willing to complete the next available courses.
* Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience, two (2) of which must have been within the last four (4) years in ICU and/or ER.
* Demonstrated understanding of the evaluation process and the Continuous Quality Improvement process.
* Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication skills, leadership and facilitation skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work with computers including the Meditech system.
* Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles.
* Demonstrated ability to prepare and present educational material in an effective, concise manner.
* Demonstrated superior interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive learning needs assessment of clients and staff and develop work objectives based on results of assessment.
* Demonstrated knowledge of current nursing research and practice standards.
* Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE)
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
* A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred qualifications:
* CNA certification in Critical Care and/or Emergency.
* Previous teaching experience.
Hours of work: 75 hours bi-weekly (Shift work may be required)
Salary: NS-30 ($40.36-$50.24)
