Job Description

Diagnostic Imaging Technologist III (Ultrasound), Temporary Full-Time (approximately 12 months) Diagnostic Imaging, James Paton Regional Health Centre, Gander

Definition of work:
The Diagnostic Imagining Technologist performs a variety of ultrasound examinations and technical procedures for the purpose of diagnosing diseases; operates within the scope of practice set forth by the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and adheres to established standards as set forth by provincial and federal regulatory bodies. This position is also responsible for the operation of radiological and accessory equipment requiring minimum supervision, independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. The successful candidate must have a sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology so that independent selection and modification of technical factors may produce optimum results. Stand by and call back will be required on a rotational basis. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Required qualifications:
* Graduation from High School with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
* Successful completion of a recognized 3- year Medical Radiography Technology Program.
* Successful completion of a recognized Sonography program.
* Current and on-going MRT-certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist.
* Current and on-going certification with Sonography Canada.
* Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of independence.
* Demonstrated leadership skills.
* Willingness to work as part of a team, while providing client centered care.
* Consistent demonstration of Central Health's corporate values; Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Stewardship and Quality.
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
* A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority

Hours of work: 70 hours bi-weekly (Shift work may be required)
Salary: LX-33($38.88-$48.95)
