Job Summary
The Clinical Psychologist III is responsible for the provision of advanced psychological services to clients of the Primary Mental Health and Addictions teams. Therapeutic interventions are provided to adult clients with a wide range of complex needs including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders and personality disorders. This position works in an interdisciplinary team which provides individual, group, couple and family counselling in a Stepped Care Service Delivery Model. The incumbent is responsible for applying various treatment modalities including individual and group interventions.
The responsibilities include designing, implementing and evaluating the psychological interventions provided to patients; conducting advanced, independent diagnostic interviews to expedite the formulation of an appropriate treatment approach; formulating and communicating psychiatric diagnosis using DSM-5-TR; selecting and administrating comprehensive psychometric tests where appropriate, including but not limited to, intellectual assessment, personality assessment, neuropsychological screening, memory assessment and vocational/aptitude testing; interpreting psychological data for diagnostic purposes; conducting group facilitation; and monitoring/prioritizing patient wait lists according to clinical needs.
As a clinical leader, the Clinical Psychologist provides supervision to Psychology residents, Doctoral students and provisionally registered Psychologists. The incumbent also provides clinical direction to working level Psychologists. This position reports to the Division Manager and maintains accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Psychology for professional integrity issues.

Uses fine finger/precision work when on the computer and visual concentration is required when in sessions with patients (i.e. reviewing patient charts/notes, tests and for documenting work, and when reading or researching information).
Visual concentration is required to interpret patient observations and integrate into patient evaluation.
Auditory concentration is constantly required in sessions with patients to listen attentively, to be alert and to obtain and interpret information correctly.
A higher-than-normal level of attentiveness is required when assessing high risk patients.
Job Qualifications
Graduation with an approved/recognized Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology is required.
Registration or provisional registration with Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board is required.
Graduate course work and supervised experience in psychological assessment including cognitive and diagnostic assessment with adults is required.
Graduate course work and supervised experience in evidence-based therapy with individuals and groups with a specific focus on mental health issues is required.
Previous experience supervising Doctoral level residents is preferred.
Exhibited strong communication, program development and evaluation skills.
Possessed strong leadership and supervisory skills that are focused on engaging others and developing coalitions.
Demonstrated ability to provide strong and comprehensive clinical support, training and mentorship to Clinical Psychologists II's and other supervisees.
Possessed strong analytical, critical reasoning, collaboration, problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively translate and communicate knowledge in the specialized area of psychology practice to others.
Demonstrated ability to conduct research, deliver lectures/clinical education sessions and provide clinical direction and consultation within an interprofessional environment.
Ability to work autonomously, prioritizing caseloads and client needs.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to participle in the clinical training activities of the psychology discipline.
Demonstrated strong awareness of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct.
Candidates may be required to do occasional shifts, on an ad hoc basis, at the DoorWays Clinic.
Use of a personal vehicle is a condition of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
