Airborne Electric Sensor Operator ( AES Op ) Contractor Qualified Flight Instructor (CQFI)

PAL Aerospace is partnered with SkyAlyne who has been named by Canada as the preferred bidder for the Future Aircrew Training ( FAcT ) Program, which is our next generation pilot and aircrew training program for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). The scope of the FAcT Program includes all training and in-service support requirements needed to prepare Pilots, Air Combat Systems Officers (ACSO), and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators (AES Op) to meet the future aerospace requirements of the RCAF. In collaboration with the Government of Canada, SkyAlyne and several of its major Canadian subcontractors will provide live-flying, simulator and classroom-based training, facilities construction and management, information management and information technology support, site support services, aircraft maintenance and much more. https://skyalyne.ca/future-aircrew-training-canada/
This Program will be a 20+ year contract and will be managed from the National Capital Region (Ottawa), with one of its main operational locations in Winnipeg, MB.
As part of this contract, PAL Aerospace will support the development and delivery of the ACSO and AES Op courses in classroom, simulator and in live flying environments, provide aircraft in-service support and live flying operations at 402 Squadron, in Winnipeg, MB. PAL Aerospace is searching for experienced an experienced A ES Op CQFI to join our team at the Winnipeg, MB facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The primary responsibility of the AES Op CQFI is to instruct, manage and provide oversight to the AES Op students and deliver the Flight Instructor Course (FIC) to new AES Op candidates.
- Fill the position of AES Op subject matter expert to support the FAcT ramp up plan and transition-in activities up to Ready for Training (RFT) and Training Steady State (TSS) such as supporting courseware development, Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) and customer acceptance activities, as well as participating in Training Development Team (TDT) and Integrated Test Team (ITT) working groups.
- Ensure FAcT Training Programs delivery and continuous improvement are delivered in accordance with RCAF principles.
- Support flight dispatching, as required.
- Training administrative duties: all associated activities to support the instructional missions for ACSO students and FIC course members .
- Participate in Wing, Squadron and Flight-mandated briefings, participate in Progress Review Boards and Instructor Reviews, as required.
- Travel required.
Experience:
- Former RCAF experience within the last 10 years with an acceptable Prior Learning Assessment Requirement (PLAR) completed.
- Have no less than three (3) years related instructional experience as an AES Op QFI within a flying unit or air service, whose flight operations are similar in size and scope.
- Comprehensive understanding of RCAF CFITES principles.
- Comprehensive understanding of RCAF rear crew training system, organizations/hierarchy and reporting mechanisms.
- RCAF/DND/GoC/industry, or equivalent, experience in general staffing duties and procedures.
- Experience with RCAF OT&E activities.
- Supporting operations and training programs, including operational planning.
Medical Category:
Must meet and maintain the following medical requirements:
- Maintain an unrestricted TC Category I Medical;
- Before starting the FIC Phase 2 (Conversion) and every two years thereafter, meet RCAF pilot standards on the following medical examinations:
- HbA1C, CBC, Lipids, Triglycerides;
- Ophthalmological Exam using DND form 2776;
- Audiogram, to include speech discrimination testing if below DND H2 hearing standard; and
- Other tests as required by the RCAF Flight Surgeon.
Qualifications:
- If English is not the person's primary language, he/she must pass the TOEFL with "advanced" results in reading, listening, speaking and writing.
- RCAF, or equivalent, previously held minimum A Cat QFI experience.
- Must be flexible to work all shifts and adapt to fluctuations in shift times due to operational and/or unforeseen situations.
Desired Experience/Qualification/Training:
- RCAF Aerospace Warfare Center (RAWC) Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E).
- Experience with RCAF OT&E activities.
- Experience in Training Development Team
- Foster partnership and business relations with key stakeholders.
- Bilingual or Second Language profile of BBB.
- Competent in the use of MS Office.
Security Responsibilities:
Incumbent must be eligible for Government Personnel Security Clearance and Canadian Goods Program.
