We currently have an opportunity for a Director Data, Marketing, Loyalty & Digital in our Enterprise Data Office (EDO) to lead our enterprise data roadmap for these domains. This position will be based out of one of our main offices including Vancouver, BC; Calgary, AB; Mississauga, ON; Stellarton, NS; or Dartmouth, NS; depending on the successful candidate's location.

The Director of Marketing, Loyalty and Digital Data has direct responsibility for the management and evolution of these data domains. This leader applies a "Data as a Product" approach to managing, protecting and growing our data assets in this space, ensuring that our data is ready to support next generation Analytics, Operations and business strategy execution

What you'll get to do in this fast-paced role:

  • Drive strategy for how we manage Marketing, Loyalty and Digital data across the organization; Own and Execute Data Product roadmap that gets us data-ready to support next generation capabilities in these domains.
  • Implement the EDO goals and guiding principles.
    • Build trust in data and how we use it.
    • Establish and embed collaborative ways of working to accelerate our data transformation.
    • Champion the safe and scalable use of data across the organization.
  • Lead efforts for defining strategy, ensuring quality and fitness for use of data.
  • Work with Privacy team to ensure the right guard rails are in place to protect consumer privacy.
  • Identify and sponsor new data initiatives around Marketing, Loyalty and Digital data.
  • Liaise with appropriate business leaders to ensure engagement on the domain's vision and roadmap.
  • Own and run initiatives to fix data quality at the source and ensure data quality maintained as data moves through all operational processes; Ongoing measurement and tracking of data quality; establishment of data standards and policies to govern Marketing, Loyalty and Digital data.
  • Lead Data Engineering team to make Marketing, Loyalty and Digital data available in common data platform for all business consumption (Empire Data Market); including data availability for Advanced Analytics roadmap, Digital Experience platforms, Personalization and the evolution of our Loyalty program.
  • Maintain data model and maps of functional data and how and where it is used.
  • Ensure data governance in place for key Marketing, Loyalty and Digital data assets (Data ownership, catalogue, published defns etc.).
  • Establish and enforce data standards in tools, solutions and platform (with alignment and support from business and IT Solutions teams).
  • Oversight of data migration activities when supporting our move to Next Generation tools and processes, in partnership with IT Solutions teams.
  • Lead cross functional data activities for all large, complex projects requiring data support.
  • Drive adoption of functional domain data products.
  • Design and lead data upskilling programs within the Marketing, Loyalty and Digital business teams.

What you have to offer:

What your resume will include and demonstrate to us:

  • 5+ years of Data Management and strategy experience.
  • And/or 5+ years of domain-specific expertise.
  • In depth knowledge of effective data management practices (governance, data quality, data engineering, data standards).
  • Understanding and ability to implement data modernization strategies.
  • Ability to collaborate with business teams to understand data impacts and define data standards.
  • Ability to understand and build data solutions that serve broad data uses; Operational Processes, Analytics, AI/ML and Reporting.
  • Ability to deliver resilient and scalable data solutions.
  • Knowledge of next generation Marketing, Loyalty and Digital data strategies.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to drive joint roadmap with Business and IT teams.
  • Experience in Data Product Management methodologies is an asset.
  • Experience in Cloud-based data management platforms and ETL solutions such as Azure ADLS, Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica or similar.
  • Knowledge of Customer and Digital activation technologies is an asset.

The salary range for this position in [British Columbia] is [$120,000K - $165,000K per year]. We will consider factors such as your working location, work experience and skills as well as internal equity, and market conditions to ensure that you are paid fairly and competitively.
