Course Title: EDUC 4503 FA02 - Digital Literacy and Curriculum (Elementary)
Contract Term: August 15, 2023 - December 31, 2023 (Fall)

Course Description: This course explores critical digital literacies for the empowerment of effective teaching and learning practices within diverse classroom contexts. The complexity of technology integration will be examined from the perspective of overlaps with pedagogical and content knowledge in the context of teacher as reflective practitioner. Through the use of current digital tools and classroom strategies, students will explore concepts such as Blended Learning, Digital Citizenship, new literacies, Universal Design for Learning, and design thinking in STEAM environments. This course section is intended for elementary education students.
Qualifications: The successful applicant must possess an M.Ed. or higher qualification in a relevant area. A record of academic expertise in relevant and contemporary theories related to digital literacy and learning technologies. Current and relevant professional experience with contemporary approaches to teaching and leading digital literacy and learning technologies in schools and regional centers for education is required. Experience with the pedagogies and technologies of Collaborative Maker Spaces is preferred. Recent experience as a school-based educator is preferred. Recent experience designing, delivering, and assessing a teacher education course at a university level is preferred. Successful recent experience working independently and as part of a team is essential. The B.Ed. is a provincially accredited program. Applicants will therefore be expected to teach to the accreditation standards for this course.
