Course Title: EDUC 4353 FA01 - Teaching English in Secondary School I
Contract Term: August 15, 2023 - December 31, 2023 (Fall)

Course Description: This course provides an approach to teaching English that emphasizes the relatedness of listening, speaking, reading, viewing and writing in curriculum and in language learning and development. The course stresses the practical application of literacy learning theories from current research and relevant curriculum documents. The teaching of literature and writing processes is examined from the perspective of assessing and supporting diverse learners.
Qualifications: The successful applicant must possess an M.Ed. or higher qualification in a relevant area. A record of academic expertise in relevant and contemporary theories related to teaching English in secondary school. Current and relevant professional experience with contemporary approaches to teaching English in secondary schools is required. Recent experience as a school-based educator is preferred. Recent experience designing, delivering, and assessing a teacher education course at a university level is preferred. Successful recent experience working independently and as part of a team is essential. The B.Ed. is a provincially accredited program. Applicants will therefore be expected to teach and collaborate within the contexts of accreditation requirements.
