Salary range: $71,979.23 to $84,681.45 annually

Responsabilités

As a key member of the Marketing and Communications team, the central accountability of the Communications Advisor is to work with the Marketing and Communications team to provide effective communications leadership and support for all departments, schools and 14 campuses of Nova Scotia Community College. You will serve as a lead coordinator within the Marketing and Communications team for colleagues requiring external and internal public relations advice and support, and you will develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships to contribute to the intrinsic, reputational and public profile goals and objectives of the institution.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a university degree or graduate certificate/advanced diploma in public relations, journalism or a related field.
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of recent and related occupational experience in communications, external relations, content creation, event planning and media relations.
  • You have specific experience in crisis communications and issues management and are competent with the monitoring of and content creation for social media channels (e.g., Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Experienced in Adobe Photoshop, as well as Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office 365 and Hootsuite.
  • Experience in an educational environment would be an asset.
  • Your work in the field includes demonstrated experience in news, persuasive and feature writing. You must be able to apply these writing styles to articles, media releases, media advisories, speeches, briefing notes, presentations, web, internal and day-to-day communication.
  • You understand the importance of internal audiences as part of effective stakeholder relations and consider them in every communications strategy and plan.
  • You are familiar with and experienced in key corporate communications channels such as intranet, email, Microsoft Teams. You keep pace with emerging tools that support effective communications in a distributed organization.
  • You have a proven ability to establish relationships via superb inter-personal skills with internal colleagues, students, and external partners; this is demonstrated in part by your strong network of media contacts.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.
  • You have experience in presenting to internal and external audiences.

  • You are experienced in media relations.
  • You are a strong storyteller.
  • You have solid administrative, organizational and problem-solving abilities and, are able to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
  • You have strong project management skills to support extensive creative projects, large external and internal partner events and announcements and manage College closure communications.
  • You have experience working with confidential information requiring a high level of trust and integrity.
