The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Welder Fitter to join our Maintenance Department team in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent on-site position working shift and supporting a 24-hour operation.
As a Welder Fitter, you will be responsible for all metal fabrication, metal welding, including pressure welding; brazing, cutting, and gouging.
Additionally, in this position, you will:
- Read and interpret structural steel drawings, and pipe and pressure vessel drawings.
- Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, dismantle, modify and repair plate and structural steel, plant and mine equipment.
- Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.
About You
Fully Licensed Journeyperson:
- Trade Certification: The ideal candidate will have a Metal Fabricator/Plate worker (437A Red Seal) and CWB Certified.
Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of progressive industrial experience is preferred.
Skills:
- Experience with oxy-fuel and plasma arc cutting.
- Knowledge of welding codes and standards.
- Experience with rigging and material handling.
- Knowledge of specific welding hazards to protect self and others is required.
- Experience with metal working equipment (shear, brake press, rolls, radial drill and power saws).
- Ability to interpret and work off shop drawings in custom fabrication environment.
