If you are looking for a dynamic organization this is the opportunity for you. We are currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Coordinator to oversee the Health & Safety Program in our branches and work sites across Canada.
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Health & Safety program ensuring that the Health & Safety mandates and vision are always adhered to, and concerns are addressed timely. This position is based in Saint John, NB, however will be required travel to various locations throughout Canada.
Some of the responsibilities of this role may include:
  • Support our corporate Health & Safety vision, mission and strategy by effective leadership through regional operations and corporate plans.
  • Provide timely guidance, training and technical support on Occupational, Health and Safety issues.
  • Work with the Health & Safety team and business lines to develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs across the organization and specific to each business line.
  • Act as a technical reference in the development, implementation, and evaluation of new and updated Health & Safety programs.
  • Monitor industry trending and best practices to continuously improve processes.
  • Develop and maintain reporting systems to measure and report on health and safety performance objectives.
  • Manage and facilitate Health & Safety audits as required.
  • Assess effectiveness of existing processes and participate in the development of new process and approaches to ensure compliance with legislation and company Health & Safety policies.
  • Conduct and/or assist with incident investigations, coordinate the communication process and recommend corrective actions.
  • Engage in Health & Safety communication and promotion activities through the use of newsletters, bulletins, reports, memorandums and events.
  • Work with operations to ensure ongoing inspections of offices, labs, warehouse facilities and projects are completed as required.
  • Other duties as required.

Suitable candidates will have the following qualifications:
  • Completion of a certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, Canadian Registered Safety Professional or a closely related accreditation is strongly preferred.
  • Post-secondary education from an accredited university or college with a degree or diploma in Environment, Quality or Safety is an asset;
  • Five (5) years of progressive Health & Safety experience in a petroleum and/or construction environment would be beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations for across Canada.
  • Strong leadership skills with the capability to assess priorities and to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal, organizational abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be flexible to travel.
