Shunter (Rotating 12 hour shifts)

We are looking for a Shunter to join our Shipping Department in our facility located in Richibucto, NB. This position will be 12 - hour rotatiing shifts.

Responsabilités
  • Moving trailers in loading yard, with shunting truck, according to shipping needs/schedules coming from Lead-hand directions
  • Going to outside warehouses to get products required for orders/loads
  • Doing some odd or special jobs like fixing pallets that would be fallen in truck, re-arranging truck, put something in trailer while not at docking are, etc
  • Being ready to help wherever needed in the distribution/warehouse area, working almost as floater on occasions
  • Palletizing certain products that the pallet was damaged or that its content needed to be modified
  • Strapping products on certain trucks and loading trailers in the yard (last minute change or all docks would be taken)
  • Driving truck to Dieppe to deliver or pickup products when required
  • Reporting to lead hand or Distribution manager any problems or discrepancies regarding material quality, any problems with Oracle, scanners, availability of product, discrepancies regarding physical and electronic inventory, missing products in load, issues with trucks, etc.
  • Following all rules, policies and procedures while operating lift truck to ensure your personal safety and the safety of others around you; completing start-of-shift lift truck safety inspection checklist
  • Following all safety rules/practices and policies pertaining to safety, including, but not limited to, wearing all required PPE and doing exercises and stretches at assigned times; reporting all accidents, near misses, potential hazards or problems to lead-hand or Distribution Manager
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area and contributing to overall plant safety and cleanliness
  • Performing all other duties assigned by lead hand or Distribution manager
Qualifications
  • A valid Class 1, with air brake, license is required
  • Experience with Lift Truck operations and/or having Lift Truck training would be an asset
  • The ability to follow oral and written directions
  • The ability to lift loads of up-to 50lbs
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task, strong decision-making and critical thinking skills
  • Adaptability to deal with changing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work
  • Experience in the production department would be an asset
  • Experience in a leadership role would be an asset
  • Reliability and punctuality
