The salary scale for Professional Support 2 is based on twelve steps that range from $54,986.15 - $76,871.51. New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $66,012.07 annually.

This is a designated competition open to individuals who self-identify as a woman. For the 2021-22 Academic Year, based on public health guidelines, NSCC plans to return to more in-person learning, supports and services. You may be required to work on campus, remotely or a combination of both as the Academic Year begins and progresses. This will be clarified further upon hire.

Responsabilités

Reporting to the Women Unlimited Program Manager/Senior Advisor within the Human Rights Equity and Inclusion department, the Women Unlimited & Equity Advisor supports the Women Unlimited (WU) program and the Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion (HREI) department in building equity-mindedness and heightening awareness of issues such as gender equity, sexism, racism and inclusion. You will provide equity-related education and training to students, staff, and industry partners in order to foster more inclusive working and learning environments. You will also be the lead facilitator for the 14-week Career Exploration Program (CEP) and deliver the five key components of the Women Unlimited program model. You will support and coach women in the Women Unlimited program to make informed career decisions, as well as provide guidance to women in other trades and technology programs, in order to support their successful transition into the labour market.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • A community college certificate or diploma (in a related discipline including Adult Education, Social Services, Gender and Women studies, Community Development, etc. is preferred) and/or related work experience in the delivery and facilitation of women-centred programming and equity-related training with a focus on sectors where women are under-represented, such as trades and technology.

  • You have a minimum of 3 years of recent and related occupational experience working in women-centred, holistic programs with an equity lens as well as experience working with racialized, marginalized, and other diverse women and the proven ability to build meaningful and trusting relationships with them.
  • Strong knowledge of the current labour market trends within the trades and technology sectors.

  • Strong knowledge of community-based organizations.

  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail and online platforms (such as Microsoft Teams).

  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.

  • You have experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation related to delivering equity-focused sessions on complex topics such as sexism, racism, harassment and discrimination, sexualized violence, human rights, etc.

  • You have experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students.

Relevant Skills and Knowledge:

  • You demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion which includes an understanding of equity, bias, intersectionality, and systemic barriers with a specific understanding of educational and employment barriers facing women in under-represented fields
  • You possess excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to develop strong relationships with a range of internal and external partners such as employers, industry, and other stakeholders
  • You are known for your superior customer service skills and can create a relationship of trust beyond the immediate interaction
  • Your superb team working skills enable you to contribute positively to a team environment
  • You have specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in developing opportunities for diverse women to establish careers in trades and technology and advocate for inclusive policies and practices
  • You are known for your problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • You are a strong communicator both written and oral
  • You possess excellent development and facilitation skills specifically related to workshop design, and facilitate learning/coaching sessions on a full range of topics
  • You have proven records and information management skills and abilities specifically related to accurate and up-to-date records documenting women's participation, progress, and outcomes in the program and during their core training
  • You show a strong commitment to community involvement and will strengthen existing working relationships within the college and community at large and develop new lasting working relationships

As a condition of employment, Professional Support employees at NSCC must complete a two-year (part-time) adult education program delivered by NSCC. This adult education program is a significant investment on the part of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees. To achieve regular status; all probationary, full or part-time Professional Support employees of the College must successfully complete the program within their probationary period. Term full-time Professional Support employees whose term appointment is twelve or more months are also required to participate in this program.
