We are currently seeking a Summer Student Painter to join our Maintenance team. The Painter will interact with other maintenance employees to paint new parts, new machines or to make arrangements to paint machines when they are disassembled. This position deals with the Facilities and Maintenance manager for day-to-day direction, training, and performance evaluation.
Responsibilities:
Painting different pieces of manufacturing equipment with oil-based paints by brush and roller
Disassembling parts on machine as necessary to ensure quality work; using maintenance to take out certain parts to paint effectively
Cleaning the machines completely by degreasing, scraping, scrubbing and brushing, prior to painting, to ensure quality and to make paint last as long as possible
Arranging equipment, movements and supplies to perform this task.
Painting the outside of the Richibucto facility with roller; using appropriate lifting equipment to reach all areas
Being proactive to find equipment to paint by taking machines that maintenance already have taken apart, or by looking into the departments to find equipment that could use a coat of paint
Reporting to facilities and maintenance manager any problems or issues with paint, equipment or any other problem encountered throughout their work
Following all safety measures and policy pertaining to safety, including but not restricted to wearing all personal protective equipment, and report any situations, potential hazards or problems to Facilities and Maintenance manager
Maintaining a clean and safe work area and contributing to overall Plant safety and cleanliness
Performing all other duties assigned by Facilities and Maintenance Manager
Qualifications:
· Having ability to follow oral and written directions
· Having demonstrated ability to follow safe work practices; follow all WHMIS legislation when dealing with the diverse chemical products (different types of paint, degreaser, paint thinner, etc.)
· Being able to function well in a team environment and to communicate clearly with others
Having ability to prioritize, organize and manage time and tasks effectively and having a proactive/preventive approach
Having capabilities to work with minimal supervision
Having ability to push, pull or lift loads of up to 25lbs
Being punctual and reliable
