Lab Technician - Approximate 20 month Contract position
Job Summary:
- Perform all testing in support of production and maintenance needs within a 12 hour day shift environment
- Approximately 42 hours per week (3 on, 3 off schedule)
Functional Contribution (Major Duties):
- Perform all laboratory functions according to client standards
- Maintain plant operations to achieve highest conversion efficiency possible
- Maintain quality control of boiler water, cooling water, wastewater, DDG and ethanol
- Maintain awareness of plant operations and process conditions
- Perform quality control tests & monitoring on all aspects of alcohol production including chemical usage; methanator monitoring tests; and boiler & cooling tower tests
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and calibrate lab equipment
- Run composite samples of DDGs, centrifuges and grain
- Maintain good housekeeping in all testing and quality control areas
- Monitor use, orders and inventories of the laboratory chemicals and supplies
- Properly document all testing results
- Collect and prepare samples for external lab testing for quality assurance testing
- Participate in the SCEP safety program
- Provide training as required to operations staff / lab personnel
Qualifications:
- College diploma in Laboratory Technology and/or experience in an industrial laboratory environment required
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage within a busy work environment
- Ability to learn new procedures
