Lab Technician - Approximate 20 month Contract position
Job Summary:
  • Perform all testing in support of production and maintenance needs within a 12 hour day shift environment
  • Approximately 42 hours per week (3 on, 3 off schedule)

Functional Contribution (Major Duties):
  • Perform all laboratory functions according to client standards
  • Maintain plant operations to achieve highest conversion efficiency possible
  • Maintain quality control of boiler water, cooling water, wastewater, DDG and ethanol
  • Maintain awareness of plant operations and process conditions
  • Perform quality control tests & monitoring on all aspects of alcohol production including chemical usage; methanator monitoring tests; and boiler & cooling tower tests
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and calibrate lab equipment
  • Run composite samples of DDGs, centrifuges and grain
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all testing and quality control areas
  • Monitor use, orders and inventories of the laboratory chemicals and supplies
  • Properly document all testing results
  • Collect and prepare samples for external lab testing for quality assurance testing
  • Participate in the SCEP safety program
  • Provide training as required to operations staff / lab personnel

Qualifications:
  • College diploma in Laboratory Technology and/or experience in an industrial laboratory environment required
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage within a busy work environment
  • Ability to learn new procedures
