Opportunities:
We are looking to fill the following three (3) part-time floater-type roles:
  • ECE IT - permanent part-time - 22.5 hours per week at our NEW Child Care at Lynn Creek Community Centre to support our Infant -Toddler and 3-5 Programs during our morning routines, typically from 7:30 am to 12:00 pm however shifts may vary between 7:00 am and 1:00 pm.
  • ECE IT - permanent part-time - 22.5 hours per week at our NEW Child Care at Lynn Creek Community Centre to support our Infant-Toddler and 3-5 Programs during our closing routines, from 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
  • ECE IT - permanent part-time - 22.5 hours per week at our well-established Child Care at Parkgate Community Centre to support our Infant - Toddler and 3-5 Programs during our closing routines, from 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

These positions require an ITE certificate or an ECE, currently enrolled in an approved training institution to complete their ITE certification. Extra hours may be available during days or periods to meet operational needs.
Parkgate Society's Child Care, both at Parkgate Community Centre and Lynn Creek Community Centre, stay current with the newest standards and best practices of early learning. Our Child Care centres are equipped with high-quality play equipment, including natural play and art materials, and have highly dedicated, passionate, and wonderfully engaging teams.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Support the team, filling in where needed, during the opening or closing hours in our Infant/Toddler &/or 3-5 Child Care Programs.
  • Core to the position, responsible for the constant supervision, safety, and well-being of the children attending our Child Care programs.
  • Recognize and respond to the needs of each child by using developmentally appropriate positive guidance and teaching methods.
  • Follow the planning, preparing, and implementation of stimulating, age-appropriate activities that the program teams create.
  • Participate in team discussions to encourage children's creativity, learning and to promote each child's social, emotional, cognitive and physical development aligned with the current BC Early Learning Framework.
  • Participate fully and consistently as a team member in caring for the children and in the overall operations of the Child Care centre and programs.
  • Establish and maintain regular and ongoing communication with team members, other staff, and parents.
  • Ensure the Child Care programs are always operating in compliance with all Child Care licensing standards.
  • As needed, perform other duties as assigned by the Child Care Supervisors or Child Care Manager.

Other Required Qualifications:
  • A current Child Care First Aid certificate.
  • A clear Criminal Records Check for Vulnerable Persons.
  • A minimum 6-12 months experience in a licensed child care setting in BC.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • It would be a bonus if you also have a current Food Safe certificate.

Additional Contract Details:
  • Full extended health & employee benefits are available after successfully completing a probationary period.
  • Free parking at Parkgate or close to transit at Lynn Creek.
  • Wage range is $22.00 to $27.00 per hour depending on certifications and experience; please note that this range is NOT INCLUDING the $6.00 BC Wage Enhancement which will be received by candidates for each hour worked for as long as the government offers this program.
  • We are located in beautiful North Vancouver, surrounded by forested areas, green spaces, and an abundance of trails, and both sites are alongside North Vancouver Community Centres, which all boast excellent programs and fitness facilities.
