The Opportunity:

The Director, Commercial Finance is a strategic finance leader responsible for driving financial performance and supporting strategic initiatives across North America. This role partners closely with the commercial leadership, operations, and finance teams to deliver accurate financial planning, insightful performance analysis, and sound commercial decision-making. The Director will play a key role in achieving business goals, supporting North American integration efforts, and enhancing profitability.

Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement the commercial finance strategy aligned with overall business goals.
  • Drive financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes to ensure accurate and insightful financial analysis.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define and track long term financial goals.

Performance Analysis and Reporting

  • Monitor and analyze key financial and operational metrics to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to senior management, highlighting insights and recommendations.
  • Provide actionable insights into business performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support continuous improvement of financial processes and reporting standards.

Commercial Decision Support

  • Partner with sales, marketing, and operations teams to evaluate the financial impact of commercial strategies and initiatives.
  • Conduct pricing analysis, contract negotiations, and ROI assessments to optimize revenue and profitability.
  • Assess and advise on investment decisions and capital allocation.
  • Contribute to the design and assessment of incentive plans and margin improvement initiatives.

Financial Modeling and Analysis

  • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to support strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess the potential impact of various business scenario and to inform executive decisions.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with various departments including sales, marketing, operations, and legal to ensure alignment of financial and business goals with overall business objectives.
  • Provide financial leadership and support for cross-functional projects and initiatives.

Risk Management

  • Identify and assess financial risks, proposing strategies to mitigate potential challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance the team's skills and capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of progressive finance experience, with strong exposure to commercial finance.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing and developing finance teams.
  • Expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling.
  • Strong communication, business acumen, and executive presentation skills.
  • Deep understanding of financial compliance, risk management, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across functions and drive business outcomes.
