akisqnuk First Nation is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as an Education and Social Programs Facilitator. Reporting to the Education and Workforce Development Coordinator, this dynamic role will facilitate and deliver engaging workshops, provide tutoring support for students and adults, and assist community members through transportation to essential programs and appointments. This position bridges the Education and Social Program & Development departments to support holistic community growth.

akisqnuk First Nation (AFN) is a member community of the Ktunaxa Nation dedicated to serving and uplifting our community through culturally meaningful programs and initiatives. Note: This position is full-time with a set weekly schedule, working 35 hours each week, onsite.

Primary Responsibilities:

Program Planning & Delivery:

Deliver workshops and programming focused on education, social skills, workforce readiness, and cultural enrichment.

Provide one-on-one and group tutoring sessions for students (K-12, post-secondary) and adults, covering various subjects, skills development, resume building, and job application assistance.

Facilitate programming and events using trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approaches.

Prepare and organize necessary resources and materials for workshops, programs, and special events.

Engagement & Collaboration:

Foster supportive, professional relationships with students, families, adults, elders, and colleagues, acting as a mentor and role model within the community.

Maintain consistent communication with families and participants to support program engagement and success.

Collaborate closely with colleagues across Education and Social Program & Development departments to align objectives, coordinate resources, and enhance community support.

Administrative Responsibilities:

Track attendance, participation, and feedback, compiling regular summaries and reports.

Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, workshop outcomes, and transportation logs.

Assist in monitoring program budgets and ensuring responsible expenditure of program funds.

Attend departmental meetings and contribute proactively to program planning and evaluation.

Transportation Support (as needed):

If the Community Driver is not available, this role may be required to safely transport community members to programs, workshops, or other necessary appointments as needed.

Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in Community Recreation, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Education, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2 years experience working in educational, social, or youth-focused environments.

Previous experience tutoring or providing educational support to various age groups is required.

Demonstrated experience or knowledge working with First Nations, Aboriginal, or Indigenous communities.

Familiarity with trauma-informed practices, inclusive education, and universal design principles.

Valid Class 5 driver's license, a clean driving abstract, and ability to safely operate community vehicles.

Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of Ktunaxa language, history, and akisqnuk culture is a significant asset.
