Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for safety orientation for employees and contractors.
  2. Maintain awareness of amendments to the Manitoba Health & Safety Act and Regulations, and make recommendations for their implementation.
  3. Ensures timely completion of accident/injury reporting.
  4. Responsible for all aspects of Workers Compensation claims including related administrative forms etc coordinating all return to work modified duties.
    1. Champion Disability Management (WCB, STD/LTD, RTW)
  5. Coordinate training for:
    1. Forklift, Genie and Scissor certification and recertification
    2. Emergency Response Team (ERT) certification and recertification
    3. Fall Protection certification and recertification
    4. Propane tank filling certification and recertification
    5. Transportation Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification and recertification
    6. Arc Flash Training
    7. Lock out, Tag out, Try out Training
    8. Confined Space Training
  6. Annual - coordinating with service provider, scheduling employees, follow up with supervisors, receiving & reviewing documentation for:
    1. Audiometric testing
    2. Asbestos inspection
    3. Crane Operator Medical and Visual
    4. Inspector Visual
    5. Air Quality
  7. Coordinate and attend Monthly Crew Safety Meetings
  8. Reporting
    1. Daily Attendance report
    2. Weekly Attendance report
    3. Weekly & Monthly report to HR Manager
    4. Monthly report to Corporate Office
  9. Participate on Joint H&S Committee as co-chair. Set agenda, chair, take minutes, submit minutes, monthly inspection, and maintain inspection list.
  10. Manage progress on Abatement
  11. Meet weekly with Production and Processing Superintendents
  12. Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
