Giatec Scientific Inc. (Giatec) is seeking a talented and experienced Cloud Platform Developer to join our team. As a Cloud Platform Developer, you will be responsible for identifying and implementing improvements and best practices in our Azure cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in software development combined with a deep understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. Youll play a key role in ensuring high system availability, operational excellence, and enhance our infrastructure capabilities within the R&D environment.

The work location for this role is in Ottawa. Our preference would be a candidate who can work in a hybrid environment both remotely and in person.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and deploy Azure cloud infrastructure, including virtual machines, virtual networks, Azure Kubernetes Services, Azure functions and other Azure services.
• Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless and reliable deployments.
• Automate operational tasks, including monitoring, logging, and incident response processes.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve critical customer issues.
• Promote DevOps skill adoption and enhance infrastructure understanding within the R&D teams.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other technical teams to align goals and ensure system reliability.
• Actively participate in Agile development practices as part of the SDLC.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 4+ years of hands-on experience with Azure cloud infrastructure design, implementation, and maintenance.
• 3+ years of software development experience in enterprise web applications.
• Strong understanding of Azure services and features, including virtual machines, storage accounts, virtual networks and security.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform for cloud resource provisioning.
• Hands-on experience with automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, YAML).
• Development skills in three or more of the following: Angular, Django, Python, JavaScript, SQL, REST APIs.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design, architectural principles, and software best practices.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and innovation skills.
• Bachelors degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent experience.
