K'awat'si Construction Company is looking for an Estimator to plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget, as well as prepare and submit construction project budget estimates.
This is not a remote position and requires relocation to Port Hardy, located on the northern tip of Vancouver Island, BC. Port Hardy serves as a gateway to natural beauty and cultural heritage. Nestled in a region of breathtaking rainforests, rugged coastlines, and vibrant marine life, the town offers a rich tapestry of community and history.
Duties, qualification and Responsibilities:
- Completion of post-secondary education with a professional degree or certification in Construction, or a diploma in Building Technology.
- Approximately 5+ years of Estimating/Quantity Surveying experience.
- Experience estimating projects ranging from $5M to $25M or larger.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with on-screen takeoff software, MS Project, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to estimate and manage a large construction project from start to finish.
- Capability to set preliminary budgets for construction management projects, working through various budget levels as project design evolves, tracking changes, writing detailed scopes of work for individual trades, and performing value engineering.
- Experience managing lump-sum, fixed-price projects from inception to completion, including project analysis, sub-trade procurement, forecast scheduling, site visits, and overseeing tender closing.
- Ability to develop unit rate costing for general conditions, carpentry, concrete, formwork, and demolition/alteration work.
- Proven ability to estimate and manage multiple overlapping projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify constructability issues, assess broader implications, and generate innovative solutions to complex challenges.
- Proficiency in scheduling software for preliminary and advanced project scheduling.
- A collaborative team player with strong leadership qualities.
- Experience with PlanSwift and BidConnect.
- Knowledge of Procore Estimating is considered an asset.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- A Valid Driver's Licence
- 5 -10 years of work experience preferred as an Estimator.
- Communication and interpersonal skills for clear and effective support research, recommendations and pricing.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Time management and strong prioritization skills.
- Growing knowledge of alternative construction delivery methods.

Pay: $70,000.00-$87,500.00 per year
