The Junior Estimator will be responsible for providing crucial support with identifying and bidding on traffic control, signage, and equipment opportunities for construction and infrastructure projects. They will be responsible for providing assistance with bid analysis, estimate preparation and vendor coordination.
What you will be responsible for:
Tender & Project Support
- Monitor key bid/tender portals to identify opportunities.
- Track award notifications and relay outcomes to Sales, Operations, and Manufacturing teams.
- Collaborate with team members to collect and input bid information.
- Assist in preparing and submitting proposals via client portals or written formats.
- Assist in identifying potential tenders and projects by monitoring relevant tender sites.
- Support in reviewing the scope and requirements of tenders under the direction of the Senior Estimator.
- Help gather documentation and project details to support the estimating process.
Estimating & Bid Preparation
- Assist in the preparation of tender submissions for traffic control, signage, installation, and equipment projects across Western Canada.
- Input data into estimating tools and maintain accurate estimate records under guidance.
- Provide general administrative and coordination support to the estimating and sales teams.
- Prepare preliminary cost estimates using internal tools and historical data.
Market Research & Project Analysis
- Collect and compile basic market pricing and internal cost data to support accurate estimates.
- Assist in maintaining pricing databases and cost templates for regional use
- Review project plans and specifications to support scope understanding.
- Assist in identifying material and labor needs.
- Contact suppliers for updated pricing and availability.
- Maintain a basic supplier database.
Internal Collaboration
- Respond to basic inquiries from internal teams or clients regarding tenders or pricing, escalating as needed.
- Support follow-up activities on bids and proposals as directed.
- Work with sales representatives, engineers, and project managers to complete estimates.
- Support cross-functional communication to ensure accurate proposal delivery.
CRM & Data Management
- Use CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot) to track bids, customer interactions, and project status.
- Support upkeep of historical cost and project data.

What we need from you:
- 1-2 years of experience completing estimates for construction and infrastructure projects.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and documents.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various stakeholders.
- Previous experience in custom signage would be an asset.
- Technology: Proficient with a CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce or other) to maintain customer contacts and opportunities.
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel. Previous experience using Google Suite is an asset.
- Proficiency in identifying, researching, and qualifying potential leads or prospects within a target market.
- Effectively address objections, managing negotiations to close deals and convert opportunities into actual sales
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and results-driven, with a dedication to achieving and exceeding sales goals.
