Forbes Bros Ltd. is seeking experienced Conventional Field Surveyors to support our team on the St. Clair Transmission line project based out of St. Clair, ON.

The Conventional Field Surveyor is responsible for executing all on-site survey activities required to support engineering design, construction staking, and as-built verification for high-voltage transmission line projects. This role involves operating total stations and levels to accurately capture topographical, alignment, and structural data, ensuring compliance with project plans, safety standards, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lives Forbes Bros. value of WE WORK SAFE & never compromising on safety in all aspects of our every day
  • Conduct control, topographic, and construction layout surveys using conventional survey equipment.
  • Stake tower locations, anchors, ROW boundaries, and exclusion zones as per detailed design.
  • Perform underground facility locates and support geotechnical investigations.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to verify alignment and structural siting against environmental and constructability constraints.
  • Collect and compile field notes, sketches, and electronic data files for integration into CAD/GIS systems.
  • Support sagging and as-built survey activities, ensuring all structure positions and clearances meet Hydro One and CSA standards.
  • Maintain survey logs, equipment calibration records, and participate in safety briefings and hazard assessments.
  • Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned

What We Are Looking For:

  • Diploma or certification in Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of field survey experience in linear infrastructure projects.
  • Proficient in use of total stations, levels, and GPS-based systems.
  • Proficient with ArcGIS.
  • Familiarity with Hydro One standards, PLS-CADD, and utility ROW requirements considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of management, employees and clients.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction and with a sense of ownership and personal commitment to a Zero Injury/Occupational Illness culture.
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills with the ability to adapt to change.
  • Works well in a fast paced, change-oriented team setting
  • Able and willing to present a current valid Driver's License and an acceptable five (5) year drivers abstract
  • Able and willing to frequently travel to field/on-site with work hour flexibility to accommodate project/site schedule
