As the Assistant Controller, you will be a seasoned accounting professional with a genuine passion for both financial accuracy and team leadership. This pivotal role will see you actively cultivating and guiding our clients accounting team, ensuring the integrity of their financial reporting and budgeting processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Cultivate and motivate accounting team members, identifying individual strengths and opportunities for professional growth.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the accounting team, actively fostering career development and emphasizing the importance of their roles within the organization.
- Make strategic hiring decisions, prioritizing attitude and character to meet both current and future team needs.
- Champion employee engagement, encouraging innovative thinking and adaptability within the team.
- Financial Oversight & Reporting:
- Oversee the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and budgeting processes.
- Manage centralized billing and taxation services for the real estate portfolio.
- Act as a key point of contact with external authorities and consultants on relevant financial and taxation matters.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams across various departments on business initiatives and special projects.
- Process Improvement & Compliance:
- Train staff on accounting policies and procedures, ensuring consistent compliance with company standards and best practices.
- Promote a culture of excellent customer service and ensure effective communication within the team and with stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement by designing, documenting, and implementing efficient accounting processes and workflows.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is mandatory.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in a related accounting role.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proven experience in effectively managing resources and leading a team.
- Familiarity with Yardi Voyager software is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with cost management principles and practices.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of advanced functions and tools.
- Experience within the residential or commercial real estate development sector is considered a valuable asset.
