About the Company

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our client's team in Toronto. This onsite role is ideal for an individual with 1 year of payroll experience, a strong understanding of payroll processes, and familiarity with Ceridian Dayforce. If you're pursuing your PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification and have an interest in working within a unionized environment, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your career in payroll.

As a Payroll Specialist, you will assist in the processing and administration of payroll while ensuring compliance with all payroll-related policies, tax regulations, and union agreements

About the Role
  • Assist with the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees.
  • Utilize Ceridian Dayforce to manage and troubleshoot payroll-related tasks.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring data is accurate and up to date.
  • Assist in resolving payroll discrepancies and responding to employee inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Process payroll adjustments and deductions, including benefits, taxes, and union dues.
  • Support payroll reporting, including preparing summaries for internal stakeholders and auditors.
  • Assist with year-end payroll tasks, including the preparation of T4s and other related documentation.
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to address any payroll-related issues.
  • Stay informed on changes to payroll regulations and best practices

What You Bring
  • 1 year of payroll experience, with hands-on exposure to payroll systems and processes.
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce payroll software is preferred.
  • Currently pursuing PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of unionized payroll environments is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
