Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and oversee building envelope restoration projects from investigation through substantial completion.
- Prepare engineering drawings and contract documents in collaboration with our technologists and other members of the engineering team.
- Review architectural, electrical, mechanical and structural drawings.
- Review investigative reports.
- Undertake some structural designs related to building envelope remediation.
- Conduct and lead field reviews and engineering (Envelope/Structural) investigations.
- Oversee energy modeling and energy audits for new construction and existing buildings.
- Draft project-related correspondence as needed.
- Participate in client meetings and provide status updates.
- Set a high technical standard and mentor junior staff to reach their fullest potential, delivering high quality work.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Building Science Engineering (or equivalent training).
- Active P.Eng. designation with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Building Envelope Consulting.
- Proven experience in preparing tender packages, contract administration, and conducting building envelope condition assessments.
- Solid understanding of the BC Building Code, particularly Parts 4, 5, and 9.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Strong communication skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to engage with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Willingness to perform fieldwork, including working at heights (e.g., on ladders and swing stages).
Assets:
- Experience with or interest in Passive House building envelope design strategies.
- Prior experience working on existing multifamily residential buildings.
- Coursework or experience in energy modeling and energy audits.
- Familiarity with Revit and structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, RAM, etc.).
